Howdy! We’ve had a few sprinkles, pretty days and just plain old cold days. I almost wanted to turn on some heat, but didn’t.
Mr. Mayburn and Ms. Elvera McCoy and son Wade and his friend Shane of Louisville spent last weekend in the country and while here stopped and visited awhile with Glenn and Helen Porter and also attended church services Sunday morning, later driving back to Louisville. They really enjoyed getting to visit awhile. Isn’t it great when you’ve known friends for years and then all at once seems like you just can’t get to see them often enough.
Curtis Coursey checks in with his Dr. in Bowling Green Tuesday the 5th to hear the report from his tests, hope they are a good report.
Monday being Memorial Day, enjoying the day with a cookout at the home of Lula Bell were her daughter Darlene and Jimmie Stuart, Travis and his girlfriend and Kathryn Stuart, so they all enjoyed the day.
Our sympathy to the family of Marion Dorris Shoemaker Lehman, this leaves Mona of Spa, Jamie of Lewisburg, Tommy of Russellville and Laura of Ohio. Many years ago my daddy did share cropping with their dad the late Albert Shoemaker. She lived in Michigan, so her services were there.
Here it is June already, where does the time go? Seems as if I’ve spent a lot of it in a hospital somewhere, am glad to be home though.
Some known birthdays in June are the 3rd Kathryn Stuart, the 10th daughter-in-law Elaine, the 8th cuz Sheldon Baugh, the 13th Sue Fuller and Casey and Corey Sharp, the 14th Danny Coursey, the 16th Marlene Harrison, the 19th Jolene Adler, the 21st, Sheridan Rosser, the 26th grandson Eddie and Lois Earl Brown and the 28th Erica Sharp. Hope all have good days.
Some anniversaries in June are the 7th Kenny and Tammy Cummins, the 14th Jerry and Claudia Hart and the 20th Gary and Cheryl Kelley. Enjoy those also.
Virginia Hart enjoyed the night meal with Barbara and Terry Hart, Maranda, Jay and Tara on Tuesday.
Nadine and her husband, sister of Ada Dorris of Alabama, spent some time visiting with them this past week.
Vickie Gregory, I hear, had surgery one day last week in Centennial in Nashville, hope she did fine. She is at home.
Glenn and Helen Porter spent some time one day this past week visiting with different ones in Creekwood Place, those being Pauline Kees, Josephine Corum and sis Ravenell Penrod. I’m sure they appreciated them stopping to visit awhile.
Cheryl Crise, daughter of Jamie Cauley, had surgery this past week, is back home and hopefully progressing nicely, glad she is able to be back home. Hospitals are great to have if we need them and also glad to get home.
Got a call Saturday from cousin Omanel Robertson of Greenville by the way of Florida. She is having lots of problems and it at the home of a son Terry and family in Florida.
Kyla and Michaela Sweeney of South Carolina, in fact Charleston, has been visiting Gamma Elaine and gran-Stan for a couple of weeks before going home. I know they have enjoyed having them as well as the kids enjoying their stay here. Did you ever hear of squash pie? Huh, you say? That is exactly what I said when I first heard of it. Don’t squawk till you try it, it is absolutely delicious. I’ve had a piece, then that special person made me a whole pie. Thank you, thank you! It has a taste like apple, it sure is a fooler, I really liked it.
As I had just recently gotten home from the hospital and was so weak, we decided to cancel our June picnic, which would have been Friday, June 1, till later after I get some strength back, will let you know in time to come, we hope Lillian and Lana will make a special effort to be here, we want to meet you, okay? Please come.
I actually got to go to Sunday school this morning, first time in a long time, I got tired, but made it okay thanks to Steve Timberlake for getting me there and back.
According to the calendar, summer begins the 20th of June, some days have already felt summerish hasn’t it?
Visiting this week with me have been David and Stacey Jernigan, Judy Jernigan, Hester Martin, Ada Dorris and Virginia Hart, I always enjoy your visits.
My good friend Juanita Silvey is now wearing her new pacemaker, hope she can soon get some of her strength back and able to be about better.
I’m sure enjoying some of these fresh vegetables, I like meat, but I’m very likely to just eat veggies and of course I like desserts better than I should.
I hear some people have been canning green beans, my, my, I well remember doing that. Last year what I had I froze, not good, but good substitute.
