At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me. II Timothy 4:16 KJV

Bro. Chad Johnson

The Apostle Paul is here referring to his first trial. He was before the Roman court for his stand for Christ and the word of God. At a time when Paul needed support from the brethren, they forsook him.

I am very sure that Paul was sad and discouraged by this. I also feel sad and discouraged as I look on at professed Christians and preachers today.

God, by His grace, has burned convictions in my soul from the word of God. Most people have preferences, not convictions. When it is not costing them anything, they stand, but the moment it gets hard on the skin, they turn.

The Bible is very clear on holiness and godly living. Things like immodest dress, such as shorts, low-cut tops, pants on women, jewelery on men, long hair on men, short hair on women, etc., are an accepted norm among so-call Christians.

Things like the place of the woman as a keeper at home and the husband as the leader and provider are all but a forgotten subject in the pulpits.

Every year people I know who used to stand against carnality now practice it.

I feel at times I stand alone.

Verse 17 is my hope. (But the Lord stood with me.) No matter what men do or say, if we are standing in truth, God will help us to stand.
