I am back again! All is well and good, it seems like I have always belonged here at the lake.

After much exploring of the surrounding area, I discovered something more precious than places, history and “the laid back easy living at the lake”. The People!

We are living so fast these days that we don’t even notice the most important part of our lives, it is the people that are in our lives. For instance, after moving into our place and settling down, then comes the company. I love company. You can’t have too much company at the lake. It gives you a feeling of sharing what you love with other people.

I got a call one afternoon from a friend she said “we will be there tonight”. They know I love to cook so they stressed don’t go to any trouble; just throw some burgers on the grill. Well, what are burgers without baked beans! I pulled out the old trusty “can opener” and would you believe the “little turn thing” on the top broke off.

What do you do when you have company coming and no “can opener”? Well, it was time to meet my nearest neighbor. She comes every spring to the lake and she let me know she was a pioneer, had been there every year for ages. Anyway, she gave me her “can opener” and I was saved for my first company at the lake.

Of course, I returned it and purchased a new one for myself and all was forgotten until a week later, I was back at her door wanting to borrow her “can opener” again. She said what happened to your new one? Would you believe it broke? Yep, after that I purchased two new ones this time and I have one stashed away in my “secret hiding place” because I was afraid she might not be at home the next time I needed it.

I guess you know by now, there is a path worn to her porch! You guessed it, she is a good neighbor. She always has what I need.
