To Make the Best Better…is the 4-H motto, and 4-H needs your help to continue making the best better for the youth of Logan County. The Logan County 4-H Council members, made up of local adult and teen volunteers are asking you to donate to the local 4-H scholarship fund to provide an opportunity for youth to attend summer 4-H camp.
Why are we asking you to donate to the Logan County 4-H camp scholarship fund? 4-H Camp provides so many opportunities for positive youth development for campers. It is an environment where real life decisions are made – from selecting classes to making choices at mealtime and choosing friends and role models to follow, camp builds independence and self esteem in the lives of Logan County youth. Campers gain responsibility, team work skills and a true sense of belonging during their week at 4-H camp.
You may remember your days as a child as you attended 4-H camp or some other youth camp. Those times are long remembered due to the fun and friendships you experienced. From canoeing, to swimming to nature class, crafts, recreation, archery, the new camp challenge courses and even trap shooting, 4-H camp introduces new challenges to youth every day of the summer. Those same o’l camp songs and skits are still being performed by the camp staff at West Kentucky 4-H Camp and the other 4 camps in Kentucky. Kids love them and sing them all year around after attending summer 4-H camp.
It’s sad, but true many youth are unable to pay the full $170.00 4-H camp fee to attend camp. Without your help, these individuals may never experience the positive relationships, new life skills and feelings of belonging that 4-H camp provides to youth between the ages of 9-14 years. Each July, nearly 60 Logan County campers attend 4-H camp, many of those needed financial assistance in order to be able to attend the weeklong summer 4-H camp. Logan County 4-H needs up to $2000.00 in scholarship money to send over 60 scholarship applicants to camp this year.
4-H camp gives children a world of good. Make that world of good possible for your local 4-H youth by donating a small portion of your earnings to the Logan County 4-H Scholarship fund. Partial scholarships will be awarded based on financial need to the 4-H’ers in Logan County. You may not be able to go with us and spend a week serving as a camp counselor, but you can help out by sending a kid to camp. Are you willing to invest in the life of a young, Logan County child?
If you would be willing to sponsor a camper or a number of campers, please send a check to the Logan County 4-H Council located at the Logan County Extension Service – 4-H office. If you personally know campers who need your help, feel free to list their names along with your generous donation. Otherwise, your donation will go into the general scholarship fund and we will make sure that all youth in need benefit from your support.
Your donation is tax deductible as the Logan County 4-H program is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Thank you in advance for your support of the Logan County 4-H program and our youth! If you plan to give please send your donation to the Logan County Extension Service, 255 John Paul Rd., Russellville, KY 42276 or hand deliver it to the office so that we may begin handing out partial camp scholarships to the youth of Logan County who are attending summer 4-H camp.
