Helping to keep Logan County clean! That was the mission Saturday, May 19 for 19 Logan County High School JROTC Cadets… a mission they were proud to accomplish.

The students, accompanied by three chaperons, picked up litter along a five-mile stretch of Cave Springs Road. This worthwhile community service effort was coordinated through Mr. Dwight Cockrell, the Logan County Solid Waste Coordinator.

“It gave me a real sense of pride to be helping out my community,” said Cadet Sergeant James Cardwell, “It’s important to keep Logan County the beautiful place that it really is.”

These students volunteered their Saturday morning to help clean up a little bit of Logan County, but this dirty job didn’t bother the cadets who felt this is a great way to give back to the community, and a great team-building activity.

The students filled nearly 35 bags with everything from discarded lottery tickets to beverage containers, and food wrappers. This group of students completed their mission, thankful for the opportunity to be of service to the Logan County community, and would encourage other groups to become involved in this type of service project.
