Tonight the Panthers and Lady Panthers were hosting the Bowling Green Lady Purples and Purples for senior night.

Both teams have proven throughout the year that they are the cream of the crop once again this year and Russellville saw first hand what it was going to take down one of the premiere powers in the region.

Both the Lady Purples and Purples ran away with the games.

The Lady Purples hammered Russellville 74-35 and the Purples took down the short handed Panthers 82-58.

The Lady Purples hit early and often against Russellville going up 31-12 into the half.

But the beating had just begun.

In the fourth quarter the Lady Purples used multiple 6-0 runs in the third quarter. The Lady Purples didn't hold anything back as they continued to run their offense in anticipation of the district tournament next week.

The Lady Panthers tried to raise up, but ultimately continued to run their sets as they started getting ready for the district tournament next week. The Lady Panthers would ease into the loss as gracefully as they could. They will regroup for their next tuneup game against Christian County.

The boys were once again without one of their big men in Darrion Quarles as he continues his indefinite suspension.

But the Panthers weren't worried about that as they faced off against one of the top teams in the region and early on they found they could hang with the Purples

But it didn't last, as turnovers mounted and their defense that has been suspect all season got shredded over and over.

The Purples would bludgeon the Panthers into submission early into the second half.

But their offense started running a little smoother as a new point guard has emerged and controlled the frenetic pace that the Purples wanted to instill.

But once again the defense couldn't put together enough stops to halt the mighty Purples.

In other sporting news the Logan County Cougars went into the lions den that is University Heights and came out with a 69-66 victory.

At this time the score from the University Heights vs the Lady Cougars have not been posted. Check back for the score.
