September 22nd dawned a rainy day but that could not dampen the spirits of over 400 Logan County fourth grade students as they embarked to the Logan County Extension Complex for a fun, educational day of learning about safety and healthy living at the 2011 Logan County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day.

Over 150 volunteers took part in this education day by presenting workshops, serving food, working the registration table, serving as group leaders for the classrooms, taking pictures and cleaning up after the event. Through the 11 learning stations, presenters gave youth, teachers and parents life-saving information regarding ATV’s (All Terrain Vehicles), Railroad safety, Disability awareness, 911 etiquette, Water Safety, Fire Prevention, Bicycle Safety, Food Safety, Fire Extinguisher Safety, Electrical Safety and Grain Safety. A 12th station was provided where students got a chance to learn about physical fitness by doing Zumba.

The day was capped off by a mock rescue coordinated by the Lewisburg and Russellville Rural Fire Departments. The students got to see how the EMT’s work through traumatic injuries.
