South Logan Water Association is currently working on two projects that will effect numerous homes and businesses on Hwy. 431 South (Nashville Road), in the Greens subdivision and on Benson Drive.

According to South Logan manager Denise Gunderson, the two projects will supply a second source of water to these areas, which will become extremely beneficial in case a repair has to be performed by the utility.

In the past, Gunderson said, when the utility has had to make repairs in those areas residents and businesses may have been without water during the process.

With the upgrade, there will be a second source going into the subdivision and Benson Drive meaning the utility will have the ability to isolate future problems and repairing them without cutting off the water supply to all its customers in those areas.

“These upgrades will be beneficial to several businesses and homes up and down a portion of Hwy. 431 including the Russellville Country Club, funeral home, hospital, etc.,” said Gunderson.

The utility already has the ability to supply the hospital with a second source but it does not have the pressure the upgrades will now supply.

The projects are expected to be complete within a few weeks. Gunderson said there have been some issues with rock but it shouldn't stall the progress of boring under the road.

The upgrades are being funded with KIA Rural development money left over from a previous South Logan Water project.
