RHS has pair of good tournaments

The Russellville High School boys' golf team already has a pair of strong tournament finishes under its belt this season.

The Panthers finished third behind Monroe County and Glasgow on Monday in the Fourth Region All ‘A' Classic golf tournament at Glasgow Country Club.

Russellville shot a combined 161 - five shots back of Monroe County and just three back of Glasgow.

Paul Sansom led the Panthers with a 37. Oliver Townsend shot 39, Davis Pardue shot 42 and Dylan Allen shot 43.

Sansom's score of 37 was also tied second best in the tournament. Only Matthew Anderson of Monroe County won individual medalist honors with a 35. Andrew Wade of Glasgow also shot a 37.

The three members of the Russellville girls' golf team also played in the event, but four were needed to calculate a team score.

The Panthers' Owen Townsend shot a 39 - to finish in a tie for fifth. Priscilla Page shot 42 and Teri Cohen shot 81.

Glasgow easily won the team title with a score of 146. Clinton County was second with a 200.

Kristen Wilinson of Glasgow won individual medalist honors by shooting a 34.

Last weekend, the Russellville boys' golf team finished second in the 12th Annual Springs Classic in Dawson Springs.

The Panthers were the top team from its region in the tournament with a score of 299. Marshall County won by shooting 280. Other top teams from Russellville's region included Bowling Green (305) and Greenwood (314).

Sansom was also second in the tournament as an individual. He shot a 70 to finish behind Patrick Newcomb of Marshall County.

Other players to score for Russellville included Townsend (74) Daniel Pardue (75), Davis Pardue (80) and John David Reeves (95).
