Adairville School's Project ACHIEVE group participated in this year's Festival of Sand in Bowling Green finishing first in the “Children's Theme” division.

The Festival of Sand has been done each year since 2001 to raise awareness and money for Kids on the Block.

On Friday, Aug. 11, participants were given 6 hours and 10 tons of sand, and the students had the challenge of working together using their creativity, imaginations, science and math skills to create a sculpture. The completed sculpture followed this year's theme "Combating Childhood Obesity", and included a replica of one of the Kids on the Block puppets, as well as multiple other sculptures, all created by students.

Kids on the Block participants included Anna, Travis Burch, Jenny Pfohl, and William Pfohl, and Adairville student participants included Tyler Knuckles, Dustin Skipworth, Luke Wetton, Calem Ebel, Zeke Gainous, Will McKenzie, Caitlyn Toon, Meryl Wetton, Dakota Ebel, Korey Jaynes, Christina Link, Kevin Costello, Emilie Gill, Ben Hayden, Alex Henson, Kody McLellan, Courtney McReynolds, Ethan Mullen, Rachel Shelton, and Blake Wetton.
