Twenty-five members of the Chandlers Junior BETA Club, along with seven parents/chaperones, picked up litter on the J. Will Stuart Road. We were amazed at how much litter was on one road, and the types of litter.

If we picked up one fast-food cup, we picked up a thousand. Why would this happen? Could someone not wait to get home and put it in a trash can? It is so sad seeing cups and bags everywhere. Please be responsible citizens and wait to dispose of trash properly.

The most littered item we picked up was alcohol bottles and cans. At one location, we found a whole case of empty beer bottles. What do you think this said to our young people? Obviously, someone had been drinking and driving. Talk about irresponsible. The only good thing our 'litterers' accomplished, in this case, was appalling twenty-five kids enough (hopefully) that they will remember it is wrong to both litter and drink and drive.

We want to think the people who littered on J. Will Stuart Road will read this and have second thoughts next time that are wanting to dispose of something. Even if you just throw one cup, it builds up over time. Please don't litter. Put litter where it belongs.
