He was born in Logan County on March 26, 1911 to the late James Chatan Cowan and the late Cora Beatrice McGuire Cowan.
Mr. Cowan was a cattle farmer and a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 13 at Young Funeral Home, Russellville Chapel with Rev. Kendal Land and Rev. Bill Krepps officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Johnson, Bret Johnson, Tracy Cowan, Chris Cowan, Roy Sayne and Vince Sayne.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Cowan of Russellville; his sons, Duane Cowan of Clarksville, Tenn. and Clark Cowan of Adairville; his daughter, Beatrice Long of Russellville; his brothers, Raymond Cowan of Adairville and William Arkley Cowan of Springfield, Tenn.; his seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild, seven great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
