Students at RMS are discovering that good character counts. In a new program called "Student of the Month," guidance counselor Kim Willoughby is seeing to it that students are being recognized for displaying good character traits. Each month, teachers name students who have made responsible choices, treated others with respect, accepted people with different opinions, and/or put forth their best effort.

Mrs. Willoughby rewards these students by making them "students of the month." On Aug. 29, awards were given to the first group of students to be named students of the month. Each student who was named received a certificate and a coupon from Domino's Pizza.

Rob and Carol Lawson have volunteered to sponsor the program for the first four months of school. Ken Meredith, from Greenwood Skate Center in Bowling Green, has also supported the program by donating four passes to his "Back to the Beach Bash," which will be used as door prizes for four students of the month.

Students of the month of August are: Savannah Larson, Browning Smith, Kelsey Cross, Dylan Anderson, Larry Jolicoeur, Andrew White, Emily Hann, Oliver Townsend, Nathan Lamb, Sarah Fox, Deepa Patel, Deandre Rippy, Alex Hardin, Katie Embry, Stecha DeArmond, Anna Barber, Kayla Jones, Ashley Edwards, Destiny Duncan, Jennifer Evitts, and Candy Pearson. Not pictured in the accompanying photograph is Dylan White.
