They were split into two groups, (4th & 5th) and (6th, 7th, & 8th). The younger campers were divided into three college teams: Wildcats coached by Vernon Osborne, Hilltoppers coached by Brad Davis, and the Cardinals coached by Vince Oakley, assisted by Ryan Mimms & Eric Greer.
The older campers were divided into three professional teams: 49ers, coached by Brad Daugherty, Buccaneers coached by Travis Anderson, and the Titans, coached by Pooh Elliott, assisted by Terry Clayton & Todd Adler.
The camp was on Wednesday, June 4, through Friday, June 6. Each day the camp began with a group warmup, including stretching and agilities. Then the campers rotated by teams through six 10-minute offensive stations. Each station focused on a differ offensive position.
The campers then had a 10-minute break before going through a 30-minute team practice. During the team practice, the teams worked on offense & defense that they would use during the 7-on-7 competition. Then each team competed in two 20-minute 7-on-7 games.
The campers then had lunch and a rest period, which was followed by a 30-minute video session.
The afternoon consisted of the same schedule except, instead of offensive stations, the campers went through defensive stations. Friday afternoon instead of stations the players went through kicking, passing, and obstacle course competitions before participating in a 7-on-7 tournament.
The championship games were shortened due to the rain. The winners of the college level were the Wildcats, and the winners of pro level were the 49ers. The camp concluded with an awards ceremony in which campers were given their participation certificates.
Each participant received a tee shirt, logo football, and certificate to go along with the three great days of learning football skills.
Camp sponsors included the Holloways of H & H Sheet Metal, Ed Gower of Gower Drug Store and Mary Ann Wilson of Mary Ann's Accessories. "Without these sponsors and many more that made donations this camp would not have been possible," says Head Coach Lee Proctor, who oversaw the entire camp.
McDonald's and the football parents helped feed the campers and coaches each day!
Several Cougar varsity players helped with the camp along with varsity coaches Davis, Osborne, Elliott and Anderson, Jr. High Head Coach Daugherty, former assistant Vince Oakley, and future Kentucky Wildcat Terry Clayton.
