A bomb threat was called into the Russellville High School Wednesday, causing students to be bussed across town to wait at Stevenson Elementary School.

Superintendent Donna Preston said the threat was not called from campus, and authorities reacted promptly when they were called.

After students were evacuated, authorities searched the school property, but turned up nothing. The drug dog 'Onyx' was also called in to aid in the search.

Preston said they responded to the threat by entering into a full emergency exercise, which they had been training for since the beginning of school.

The students spent a little over an hour at SES before being transported back to RHS.

Anyone with any information concerning this incident should contact the Russellville Police Department at 726-7669 or the campus safe hotline at 725-8111. Any information received will remain anonymous.

n The two Russellville Middle School students who were caught with guns last month on school property were recently expelled by the Russellville Board of Education.

n A special called meeting of the Russellville School Board was held Monday, Nov. 18.

Some of the items on the agenda included an update on the status of the Russellville High School Parent Teacher Organization and discussion of options for restoration of Rhea Stadium wall posts.
