Logan County and Russellville third and sixth graders rank about in the middle of the six school districts which surround Logan in standardized tests scores.

Russellville High School, however, is clearly the top scorer in the area at the ninth grade level.

The scoring is based on the results of the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) given to third, sixth and ninth graders across Kentucky and the nation last year.

Here's how the local districts stacked up:

Third grade: 1) Muhlenberg and Warren 65 each, 3) Butler 65, Region 63, State 60, 4) Bowling Green 59, 5) Logan County 58, 6) Russellville 56, 7) Simpson 55, 8) Todd 55

In Reading, Logan ranks fourth at 57 and Russellville eighth at 53. The region average is 62 and the state 59.

In Language, Logan is fourth at 56 and Russellville tied for fifth at 55. The region average is 59 and the state 57.

In Math, Logan is fifth at 58 and Russellville sixth at 57. The region average is 63 and the state 60.

Sixth Grade: 1) Warren 63, 2) Todd 59, Region 58, 3) Logan 56, 4) Russellville 54, 5) Simpson 53, State 53, 6) Bowling Green 52, 7) Muhlenberg 52, and 8) Butler 43

In Reading, Russellville and Logan are tied for third at 57. The region average is 59 and the state 55.

In Language, Russellville is second at 56 and Logan third at 55. The region average is 55 and the state 51.

In Math, Logan is tied with Muhlenberg for third at 54 while Russellville is seventh at 51, The region average is 58 and the state 52,

Ninth Grade: 1) Russellville 62, 2) Warren 57, 3) Butler 55, Region 55, 4) Logan County, Bowling Green and State 51 each, 6) Todd and Simpson 50 each, 8) Muhlenberg 49

In Reading, RHS is first at 65 and LCHS sixth at 52. The region average is 57 and the state 54,

In Language, RHS is first at 61 and LCHS tied for third at 52. The region average is 53 and the state 50.

In Math, Russellville is tied for first with Warren County at 57. LCHS is fourth at 50. The region average is 53 and the state 49.
