He was born in Logan County May 18, 1931, a son of the late Buford Lee Kennedy and the late Willie Ethel Franklin Kennedy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Ipox Kennedy; his son, John Daniel “Goody” Kennedy, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kennedy was the founder and former owner of Kennedy Plumbing which he started in 1968 as a Master Journeyman Plumber. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints where he served as an elder of the Melchizedek Priesthood and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Branch President Travis Anderson, Tom Morgan, Alvin Frogue and Larry Frogue officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clifford Kennedy, Robert Harris, Stanley Kennedy, Doug Kennedy, Tom Morgan, Clifford Kennedy Jr., Adam Kennedy and Tommy Morgan. Honorary pallbearer was Jackie “Booger” Harris.
He is survived by his sons, Stanley Lee Kennedy and Douglas Wayne Kennedy and wife Jane, both of Russellville and Clifford Wayne Kennedy and wife Regina of Elkton; his daughters, Mary Joyce Morgan and husband Tom of Calvert City and Connie Lynn Harris and husband Robert of Bucksville; his daughter-in-law, Paula June Kennedy of Russellville; his sister, Helen Ipox of Sparta, Miss.; 20 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
