Back to school vaccinations

The Logan County Health Department, 151 Franklin Street in Russellville, will be giving back to school vaccinations on July 15 and 22. They will be able to bill your insurance. Please call 726-8341 to set up an appointment.

Food donations sought

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Center is participating in the 2011 Feds, Farmers and Friends Feed Families program. We are accepting donations of nonperishable food items to be distributed to Logan County food banks through Aug. 31. If you would like to participate in this food drive, bring your donations of nonperishable food to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) or Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) at 253 Hopkinsville Road in Russellville.

Carpenter Center changes

The fitness class schedules at the Carpenter Center have changed. During the month of July all classes are free.

Football Organizational Meeting for RHS

A team organizational meeting will be held today at Russellville High School at 4 p.m. Physical and medical release forms must be filled. We will be releasing equipment and discussing practice schedules as well.

VBS at Plainview Baptist

Son Camp will be tonight through Friday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m. nightly at Plainview General Baptist Church. The VBS is under the direction of Mrs. Tara Cox. There will be Bible classes, music, art & crafts and snacks nightly.

Woodmen ice cream social

The Woodmen of the World Lodge 347 will meet at 6 p.m. today at the American Legion building in Auburn for an ice cream social

Lewisburg Neighborhood Watch

The Lewisburg North Logan Neighborhood Watch will have a meeting tonight athe NHW Building at 6:30 p.m. to discuss counterfeit money which is being circulated in the community.

LEAD, IDA meetings

The Logan Economic Alliance for Development (LEAD) will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 a.m. today in the Logan County Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room in the Harrison-Hite Building, 116 South Main Street, Russellville.

The Logan Industrial Development Authority, (IDA) will hold its regular monthly meeting following the LEAD meeting. LEAD and IDA meetings are open to the public. All who live and/or do business in Logan County are welcome to attend.

Monroe Reunion

The Adairville Church of Christ will hold a Gospel Meeting, featuring guest speaker Harry Middleton, Minister of the Lebanon Road Church of Christ, Nashville, Tennessee, from today through July 20th. Gospel singing at Caney Fork

There will be a gospel singing and potluck supper at 5 p.m. today at Caney Fork Presbyterian Church. Guest singers will be the Colters. Pastor Tom Thompson and the church welcomes everyone.

Homecoming at Center Baptist

There will be a Homecoming service today at Center Baptist Church on Cooperstown Road. Sunda school begins at 10 a.m. and worship will be at 10:45. There will be a potluck lunch after services with singing by The Bilbreys.

LCMS Football Practice

Today will the first day for Logan County Middle School Football practice starting at 5:30 p.m. and going through 7:00 p.m. for all 7th and 8th grade boys. There will be a parents meeting directly following the practice in the LCHS cafeteria. All players must have current physicals in hand to partcipate

LCHS girls’ soccer practice

Soccer practice begins today at 8 a.m. for any girl that wishes to play soccer in grades 6-12. Students must have a physical. For more information, call coach Dan McCarley at 270-670-3448.

Logan schools enrollment

Logan County schools will be conducting open enrollment and registration for any new students today from 8 a.m. to noon at each of the five elementary schools and Logan County High School. All students enrolling for the first time in a Kentucky school must have the following: official birth certificate, immunization records, health physical and vision exam within 30 days of enrollment.

Free dental cleaning

There will be a free dental cleaning today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at KP Hall at the corner of 5th and Morgan streets in Russellville. The service will be provided by the Barren River Development District (BRADD) for anyone age 21 and under. This event is sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Logan County. 90 Plus Celebration

The Russellville Senior Center and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Community Action of Southern Kentucky have chosen Saturday July 23, 2011 as their Make a Difference Day in Logan County. The groups will honor all seniors 90 plus again this year with a luncheon at the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Facility. We need your help in making seniors and their families aware of the event. We would like to know names of people in that age group to send them an invitation. Please don’t assume that someone has turned in a name or that the person called. So if you know someone that will admit to being 90 plus of age or if you are the person please call the Senior Center. When you call please speak with Belle Wells, Juanita Marshall or Geraldine Palmer at 726-9884. The center needs the name as soon as possible in order to send an invitation and get the response back before the deadline of July 18th. Community Action of Southern Kentucky appreciate the communities’ involvement with the Senior Center and RSVP in making this a successful day.

Homemakers quilt show

The Logan County Homemakers will be hosting their annual Quilt Show from today 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. They will also be providing concessions and a bake sale during the quilt show. This quilt show is open to the public and free admission. New this year in addition to the quilt show is a craft sale and flea market from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. for all of you needing to sell a few items. Booth rental for the craft sale and flea market is $15 for approximately a 10’ x 20’ space. All events are being held at the Logan County Extension Office. If you are interested in entering a quilt in the show or renting a space for the craft sale and flea market or just need more information please call or stop by the Logan County Extension Office. All fundraiser proceeds will benefit ovarian cancer research at the University of Kentucky.
