Organizers have planned an “All Dressed Up” night to be held March 18 at the church located on Hwy. 68-80 beside Southern Outdoor Furniture.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will become a lock-in where girls ages 13 to 18 can spend all night talking about “girl” stuff with one another, and how God plays a roll in their lives. If you do not wish to spend the night, that is okay. For those who do not wish to spend the night the event will be over at 9 p.m.
“Prom is a time when certain pressures can make a girl’s prom experience less memorable,” said organizers adding, “We want to tell them about what to expect and let them know it is okay to follow God’s direction.”
If you or someone you know fits into this age category, no matter where you are from, and is interested in attending the event, you can either just show up at the church or preregister by calling the church at 542-8694 or going on Facebook and putting in All Dressed Up. There will be a form provided on Facebook you can fill out. Preregistering allows your name to be put into a drawing to win an I-Pod Shuffle.
Girls will be able to see and try on a variety of prom dresses donated by businesses and will be able to take one home if they choose at either no cost or low-cost depending on the donator’s dress. There will be lots of accessories such as shoes and jewelry presented to wear as well.
“We will be having a fashion show put on by the girls and will be fixing our hair, make-up and nails,” said Amanda Harmon, one of the event’s organizers.
A meal will be provided and there will be movies to watch, along with a load of good old fashioned fun. Door prizes will also be an exciting part of the fun including gift certificates.
“We just want girls to know it’s okay to have a good time and listen to God at the same time. They need to know they don’t have to feel uncomfortable saying no if certain temptations arise and that they have their friends to back them up on their decisions,” organizers say.
