Mary Jane Smith, 77, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Creekwood Place Nursing and Rehab.

She was born in Greenville, Miss. Jan. 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Murray and Ezma Mayo Ethridge. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Marion W. Smith and her brothers, Jimmy Ethridge and Murray Snow Etheridge.

Mrs. Smith worked as the general manager for the News-Democrat & Leader news paper and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville with Brother Calvin Naylor officiating.

Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her son, Richard Lynn Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; her daughter, Nancy Hasty Smith of Emerald Isle, N.C.; her brothers, Bobby Etheridge and Richard Dickey Etheridge; her sisters, Sue Harper, Patricia Haskins and Linda Smith Richard; her grandchildren, Mary Catherine Campbell and Spencer Lee Smith, and her caregiver, Wanda Skipworth.
