James Richard Mallory, 89, of Elkton, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was born in Todd County July 18, 1921, a son of the late Reno and Annie Harris Mallory. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mallory was preceded in death by his brother, Shelton Mallory and two sisters, Irene Shemwell and Myrtle Rager.

Mr. Mallory was a retired school bus driver for the Todd County Board of Education and was a farmer. He served for 16 years as a Todd County Magistrate. He was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 16 at Providence United Methodist Church in Elkton with Reverend Bitch Hester and Reverend Bart Myers officiating. Burial followed in the Providence Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Harris Mallory of Elkton; his son, Jimmy Dale Mallory of Elkton; his daughters, Sharon Mallory Wilson and husband Paul of Elkton and Suzanne Mallory Arnold and husband Bob of Hopkinsville; his sister, Clyo Violette of Clarksville, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Monday Michelle Mallory, Jason Mallory, Shea Wilson Simons and Max, Rob and Anne Mallory Arnold, and his great-grandchildren, Eliza Simons and Malone and Norah Mallory.

The family asks that donations be given to the Providence United Methodist Church in care of Jo Miller, P.O. Box 98, Elkton, Ky. 42220.
