Russellville hosted the Greenwood Gators on Thursday. Despite getting five hits in the game, the Panthers were unable to get any runners across the plate. The Gators won 3-0.

The Panthers looked good in the field after turning a double play to end the first. In the bottom half of the inning, Evan Humphrey hit a single to record the first hit for the home team. Jordan Blick followed up the hit with a single of his own. Greenwood pitching got out of the inning with two strikeouts, stranding the two runners.

The Gators got two more singles in the top of the second, but the Panther defense got out of trouble without giving up a run. Brennan Hughes hit a single in the bottom of the second but was not able to score.

The Gators took advantage of a Panther pitching change in the top of the third. They put up two runs in the inning. That would be the only runs of the game until the top of the last inning. Greenwood scored one more on a wild pitch in the seventh.

The Panthers got two singles from Hughes and one each from Jesus Zamarripa, Blick, and Humphrey. There were five runners left on base. The Gators had 11 strikeouts against the Panthers.

In the field, the Panthers turned three double plays.

Jordan Blick was the starting pitcher, going two innings and allowing three hits with no runs. Evan Humphrey went three, giving up two runs, four hits, and striking out three. Zamarripa finished out the game on the hill. He struck out two and gave up a run in two innings of work.

The Panthers host the Cougars on Tuesday.
