Thursday night at 6:30 Russellville High School will host the 2015 Meet the Panthers event in the Jim Young Gym at the high school.
This year’s Meet the Panthers event will also serve as RHS Fall Sports Media Day. Members of local media outlets will be on hand to speak with coaches, players and supporters of RHS Fall Sports programs.
RHS Athletic Director Calvin Head announced the happening about a month ago. This will be the second Media Day Head has implemented in his tenure as AD; in the spring RHS hosted a Media Day for Spring Sports programs. The spring’s modest event paid great dividends in awareness and support of RHS and RMS sports, setting the tone for a season that would see unprecedented and unexpected success in several programs.
Originally considered to be held in the historic Rhea Stadium, home battleground of the RHS Football Panthers, recent weather events no doubt played a part in the decision to come indoors. “We decided to plan this to be an inside event to stay away from the potential of heat and rain,” said Head in a release to media outlets with event details.
General admission to the Meet the Panthers Media Day Event is $3.00. Concessions will be available.
“This event will allow our community and fans to meet all of our fall sports teams and coaches,” added Head.
Coaches, players, staff and supporters are expected to be in attendance and available for questions and to hear concerns parents and/or fans may have. Be sure they would love to hear a good word of encouragement as well.
“Our Cheerleading coaches are planning exciting activities that will get our crowd involved as we get ready to kick off a wonderful school year and athletic season,” Head stated further.
Fall Sports for Russellville High School and Russellville Middle School include: Football, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cheerleading. Additionally, RHS has a Golf team and RMS has a Softball team.
