Panthers score big at home

The Russellville High School Panthers went to work on Friday against a win less Caverna Colonels team in the opening round of the playoffs. By the end of the game, Russellville would end up with a season-high 62 points. They got the easy win by a final of 62-6.

The Panthers (10-1) broke 100 yards passing Friday night. Jaylyn McMurry went 2 for 2 with both passes going for touchdowns. Jacob Naylor threw four passes, with three of those going for six points. MJ Jones four passes in the game. All four of those passes were touchdowns for the Senior. He finished with 80 yards through the air. Devin Quarles caught the other touchdown pass.

Jacolbie Mason was the leader on the ground with 69 yards and two touchdown runs. Damon Hales collected 59 yards and one score with his legs.

The defense was once again strong for the Panthers, only allowing six points to Caverna. Jacob Naylor snagged an interception and ran it in for a 19 yard pick six.

Milam Watkins continues to tack on the extra points after touchdowns. Watkins kicked eight successful extra points on Friday. He now has 49 points on the season for Russellville.

Up next for the Panthers will be the Campbellsville Eagles for round two of the playoffs. The Eagles have won four games this season. They beat Fulton City 49-14 on Friday.
