Lady Cougars end season, Cornist named Player of the Year

Kelly Phillips|NDL Kerra Cornist was named the Fourth Region Volleyball Player of the Year by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.


The volleyball season wrapped up this week for Logan County High School.

The Lady Cougars fell in the semifinals of the Fourth Region Tournament to arch-rival Greenwood 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-17) on Wednesday night at Cumberland County High School.

Logan County advanced out of the first round on Monday by knocking off Clinton County 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-14) to set up the meeting with Greenwood.

The Lady Cougars also earned some impressive postseason awards as junior Kerra Cornist was named the Fourth Region Volleyball Player of the Year by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. Also head coach Steve Lyne was named the Fourth Region Coach of the Year.

Logan County finished the year with an overall record of 28-10, which included another perfect district record. Earlier in the season, the Lady Cougar program was recognized by the school for winning 100 consecutive district games.
