Former Cougar will lead Cougars

Greg Howard, Athletic Director at Logan County High School has announced the hiring of Joe Dan Laster as cross country coach.

Laster is a former All-State runner for the LCHS Cougars. Coach Howard describes him as having “a passion for the program and its runners.” He is the second LCHS Alum to return to their home program as coach in as many months.

Laster was a prominent figure in leading the LCHS Cross Country Cougars to their first ever visit to the KHSAA State Cross Country Championship in 1998. Since that time the Cougars have remained at the elite level and Coach Laster hopes to continue that success.

Laster will teach at Chandlers School.

Laster most recently served at Todd County Middle School where he successfully started a middle and elementary school Cross Country team.

“Joe Dan recently wed Caitlynn Oberhausen (an Auburn grad) and they are both excited to return Cougar Nation,” said Howard. “We are proud and excited to have one of our own back with us and now becoming a vital part of the Logan County Cross Country Program,” he continued.
