Thursday night was Senior Night at Russellville High School. Both the softball and baseball teams honored seniors this year. Also, both teams played Butler County and won.

The Lady Panthers finished out the regular season with 15 wins and 19 losses after beating Butler County (18-12-2) on Senior Night.

The ladies jumped on top of the visiting Lady Bears early in the 1st inning. Brooklyn Ray knocked in the first run with a single. Senior Johnea Pendleton followed up with an RBI single as well. Macy Meacham then hit a bases loaded double, scoring all three runners. The Lady Panthers exited the first leading 5-0. Neither team would score again until the 4th inning. The Lady Bears put up three runs against Russellville pitcher Tara Gilbert. Brooklyn Ray hit her second RBI single in the bottom half of the inning making the score 6-3 in Russellville’s favor.

The Lady Panthers would get their seventh and final run of the game after Macy Meacham scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 5th inning. Butler County would threaten in the top of the 7th by adding two more runs, but a force out at second ended the game with a final score of 7-5.

Russellville got nine hits on the evening. Macy Meacham, Tonisha Hampton, and Brooklyn Ray each hit twice. Cierra Collins, Susanna Higgins, and Johnea Pendleton had one hit a piece. Third baseman Meacham led the team with three RBIs.

Tara Gilbert was in the circle for the home team in black and gold. She tossed five innings to pick up the win. Gilbert only allowed four hits, but also walked four Lady Bears. Macy Meacham came in to finish out the last two innings. Meacham gave up two runs on one hit.

The Lady Panthers was scheduled to play against Franklin-Simpson on Monday in the 13th District tournament which will be held at Todd County.
