The 11-12 Logan County All Stars finished 2-2 in district play, after losing to Owensboro Southern 8-5.
Owensboro Southern advances to the single elimination stage of the tournament.
The Logan All Stars played well but were unable to get timely hits when needed. Down 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Logan County loaded the bases with no outs; unfortunately, the All Stars were unable to get a run across the plate. Southern Owensboro’s pitching stepped up and got two strikeouts and a ground out to end Logan County’s best threat to take the lead and possibly advance.
For the Logan County All Stars, Macon Barrow had two hits including a two-run homerun. Anthony Woodward and Blake Wood added two hits each. Zach Yates, Braxton Baptiste and Jarrett Sears each added a hit.
Trevor Scott, Preston Hury, Blake Wood, Macon Barrow, Jackson Hampton and Zach Yates all took part in the effort from the pitching mound in the loss for the Logan County All Stars.
The Logan County All Stars coaching staff had nothing but praise for their team. “It was a great ride and we had our chances. The kids have worked so hard and I was so proud of how they put us in position to win and advance” said Coach John Myers. “Our pool was loaded and we knew it was going to be tough but I couldn’t be more proud of our kids’ preparation and effort the last few weeks.”
