After taking a week off for spring break, the Logan County and Russellville high school softball teams got back into action over the weekend.

The Lady Cougars went 2-1 with a pair of lopsided wins on Saturday in the Hart County Invitational.

Logan County beat Caverna 18-2 and Fort Knox 12-2 in two five inning affairs.

In their only loss on the day, the Lady Cougars fell 8-2 to Marion County, who went on to beat Hart County 8-6 in the tournament championship game.

The games improved Logan County’s overall record to 5-6 on the year.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action tonight in a District 13 match against Todd County Central at home. They then play at Clarksville Northwest on Thursday and host Allen County-Scottsville on Friday.

The Russellville Lady Panthers also played in a tournament over the weekend, travelling to Clarksville for the TSCA Classic.

The Lady Panthers faced tough opposition and lost all four games they played – including a pair of one-run heartbreakers. Russellville lost 7-6 to Lincoln County and 8-7 to Stewart County, Tenn. The Lady Panthers also lost 11-1 to Clarksville Northeast and 6-2 to Bourbon County.

Russellville is now 5-11 on the year.

The Lady Panthers will be back on the field tonight at Franklin-Simpson in a District 13 matchup. They then play at home Thursday and Friday against Springfield and Metcalfe County, respectively.
