The Logan County High School softball team got the season started last week and after dropping its first two games of the year, stormed back in the third for a big win over Warren Central.
The Lady Cougars lost their opener 3-2 at Hopkinsville on Tuesday and then fell 7-1 to Muhlenberg County on Thursday night. But on Friday night, they traveled to Bowling Green and beat the Warren Central Lady Dragons 16-5 in just five innings.
Logan County will be back in action Tuesday as they host Franklin-Simpson in the first District 13 game of the season.
The Russellville Lady Panthers softball team also got things going last week and have already won two games this year.
Russellville beat Bowling Green 8-5 on Thursday in the season opener on the road.
Tara Gilbert pitched all seven inning for RHS, giving up just two earned runs and nine hits to earn the win. She also lead the Lady Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Cierra Collins added a pair of hits of her own, scored twice and drove in one.
Tonisha Hampton, Allison McDaniel and Macy Meacham also drove in one run apiece.
Russellville then went 1-2 over the weekend in the Lady Rebel Invitational at Todd County Central. The Lady Panthers beat University Heights 10-3, but fell to Edmonson County and Dawson Springs.
The Lady Panthers (2-3) will be back in action Tuesday at Todd County Central in a District 13 game.
