The Russellville High School girls’ basketball team picked up its second straight win on Friday night with an exciting 53-49 overtime win over visiting Todd County Central.

The two victories gives the Lady Panthers an overall winning record and also makes them 3-3 in District 13 heading into next week’s postseason play.

Russellville was led in scoring by Loreal Cheaney with 21 points. DaVonya Bryant poured in 19 and Deshale Leblanc added 11.

Prior to the latest winning streak, Russellville had been in a bit of a funk since the holidays. The Lady Panthers had lost nine of their previous 11 contests before picking up a 55-53 win over arch-rival Logan County on Feb. 5.

Russellville will finish up the regular season this week with home games on Tuesday against Bowling Green and on Friday against Dawson Springs.

In next week’s district tournament, Russellville will take on Franklin-Simpson in the 2-3 matchup. The Lady Cats are the only district team to beat the Lady Panthers twice this season. Logan County, as the top seed, will take on Todd Central in the other first round match.
