Russellville Panthers are 12-4 for 2015-16

The Panthers bounced back from their loss at Bowling Green with a big victory over the Muhlenberg County Mustangs, 92-72 at Jim Young Gym on Tuesday night.

The Region 3 Mustangs came into the game with a 6-10 overall record.

It was a shooters’ night as both teams started hot. At the end of the first quarter Russellville led 24-18. Both teams were shooting well from behind the three-point arc, too. At halftime there was 10 total 3-pointers made.

The game stayed close through three quarters. Russellville began the fourth quarter in the lead by five points, 64-59. But the Panthers turned it on and outscored the Mustangs 28-13 in the final frame.

Final score Muhlenberg County 72, Russellville 92.

The win runs the Panthers to a 12-4 overall record and a fourth place in the Region 4 standings. Pedro Bradshaw had 34 points and was a perfect 16 of 16 in free throws.

Next for the Panthers would have been Friday’s home game against Hopkinsville; that game has been cancelled due to weather conditions and hopes are it will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

With hopes that weather will be permitting, the Panthers are scheduled to travel to Christian County for a game against the 15-2 Colonels on Monday, January 25. Tip-off for the game is at 6pm.
