Local boys’ teams are winners

Logan County Cougars are 7-8

Russellville Panthers are 10-3

Patriots 45, Cougars 51

The Allen County-Scottsville Patriots visited the Logan County Cougars on Tuesday night, January 12. The Cougars were able to secure the win, 51-45, for their second victory in a row.

Noah Whittinghill led the way in scoring for the Cougars with 25 points. For the season so far, Whittinghill has averaged 16.4 points per game.

The win makes the Logan County team overall record 7-8. The Cougars will try to get to an even 8-8 on Saturday, January 16, when they travel to Clarksville, TN to play Northeast High School. The game is the nightcap of a girl/boy doubleheader and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30pm.

Gators 41, Panthers 69

The Russellville Panthers bounced back from a loss to Ohio County to soundly defeat the visiting Greenwood Gators, 69-41, on Tuesday night (Jan. 12).

The victory over the Region 4 rival runs the Panthers record to 5-1 in Region play and 10-3 overall.

Next up for the Panthers is a much-anticipated match-up against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats. The Wildcats will come in to Friday night’s game with a 13-2 overall record. This will be the second district game for the Wildcats, after defeating Logan County early in the season. Russellville is 2-0 in district play with wins over Todd County Central and Logan County.

Friday’s game is the second of a boy/girl doubleheader and will tip-off at approx. 7:30pm.
