Logan County 72, Greenwood 52

The Logan County Lady Cougars took their winning streak to eight on Saturday afternoon, January 9, with at 72-52 victory over the Greenwood Lady Gators.

The loss for the Region 4 rival lady Gators was their eighth of the year after a 7-3 start. Riley Hartis and Alexus Jessup scored 17 points each for Greenwood. Five other Lady Gators scored the remaining 18 points for the visitors.

For the Lady Cougars four players were in double-digits, led by Rachel Barnett with 20 points. Torrie Pollard connected on three 3-pt shots on the way to her 16 points on the evening.

After a very poor shooting spell versus Todd County Central the night before, the Lady Cougars bounced back and hit 72% of attempted free throws and 48% from the field.

Brooke Barnes had another solid game, leading the Lady Cougars in rebounds with 10 while scoring 10 points.

Allen-County Scottsville 51, Logan County 42

On Tuesday night the Lady Cougars played host to the Allen-County Scottsville Lady Patriots. The defending 4th Region Champs and State Runner-up proved to be a little more than the Lady Cougars could manage. Logan County lost the game 42-51.

The loss broke an eight-game win streak for the Lady Cougars and was their first loss in Region 4 play after having won six in a row.

The win was the Lady Patriots eighth in as many tries in Region 4 play and improved their overall record to 13-3 a half-game ahead the Lady Cougars’ 13-4.

Next up for the Lady Cougars is a trip to Clarksville, TN for the opener in a girl/boy double header against Northeast High School. Tip-off is 6pm on Saturday, January 16, in Clarksville.
