The Cougars lost their Region 4 game with the visiting South Warren Spartans, 4-68, on Tuesday, January 5.

The Spartans came into the game with a 4-9 overall record, slightly worse than the Cougars’ 5-7 overall record so far this season. Many were surprised that the Cougars never led in this game and trailed by double-digits for most of the first half. Logan County was able to cut the lead to within 10 points in the third quarter, but the South Warren, led by their star player, senior Dayton Gumm, was not seriously threatened.

In the loss the Cougars were led in scoring by Lorenzo Garcia with 22 points (including three 3-pointers). Noah Whittinghill added 17 in the effort.

Next up for the Cougars is a game at home against Region 4 rival, Allen County-Scottsville. The Patriots (3-8 overall) currently have a 1-8 Region 4 record and sit two places below the Cougars in the standings. Tip-off for the game at LCHS on Tuesday, January 12, is 7:30pm.
