The Lady Panthers got back into the win column on Monday night with a 60-35 victory over Joppa-Maple Grove, IL team in the Lady Bombers Christmas Tournament at Ballard Memorial High School in Barlow, KY.
Davonya Bryant and Loreal Chaney had 14 points each to lead the Lady Panthers to victory. DeShela LeBlanc added 12 points and seven other Lady Panthers added points to the total.
The win set up a match-up against the Region 9 team Villa Madonna. The Lady Panthers made it look easy in the victory over the Blue Lightning. The final score was 54-40. Loreal Chaney had 15 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals to go with 22 points. Davonya Bryant added 11 points. Again, it was a team effort, as 10 Lady Panthers saw action in the game and nine added points to the victory.
The two wins in two days for the Russellville squad improves their overall record to 7-2 and sets up a game on Wednesday night versus the Crittenden County Lady Rockets. Tip-off for the game is 5pm.
In addition to the competition at the Lady Bombers Christmas Tournament, Russellville and Crittenden County will be doing some important scouting. The Lady Rockets is one of the teams that will be in Logan County after Christmas for the FSNB Christmas Classic. The Lady Rockets play in the top half of the tournament bracket; the Lady Panthers play in the bottom half. The potential for a re-match exists in either the Championship game or the Fifth Place game; both will be played on December 30.
