The Russellville Lady Panthers won their fifth straight game of this 2015-16 season when they travelled to Caldwell County and won 58-48.

Thanks to Davonya Bryant’s half-court shot as the buzzer sounded to end the game, the Lady Panthers will begin play with a 5-0 overall record in their season home-opener on Friday night.

In the regional match-up at Jim Young Gym on Friday, the girls’ and boys’ will host the Barren County teams.

The Trojanettes, coached by Piper Lindsey, come into Friday’s game with a 1-5 record, having beaten Caverna on Tuesday night for their only win of the season.

In Russellville’s win on Tuesday, Devonya Bryant led the Lady Panthers with 18 points. DeShala LeBlanc added 14.

Lady Panther standout, Loreal Chaney did not play because of a minor injury. According to Head Coach Calvin Head, Chaney’s status is day-to-day.

This will be the only home game for the Lady Panthers before the Christmas break. On Saturday, December 19, the team will go to Bowling Green to play the Greenwood Lady Gators. Then December 21-23 the Russellville squad will compete in the Lady Bombers Christmas Tournament at Ballard Memorial. Then next is the much anticipated FSNB Christmas Classic, in which the Lady Panthers and both our local girls and boys teams will play at sites at RHS and LCHS.
