The Russellville Panthers and Lady Panthers travelled to Elkton on Friday night for the first District 13 games of the year for both RHS squads. It was the second District game for the hosting Todd County Central Rebels and Lady Rebels.
Both RHS teams won; the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Rebels 69-53; the Panthers defeated the Rebels 71-44.
For the Lady Panthers this was their third win of the season in as many attempts. In the win, DeShale Leblanc led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 20 points, while Devonya Bryant added 18 and Loreal Cheaney added 17.
The Lady Panthers win streak was not done for the weekend yet. On Saturday the Lady Panthers won an unprecedented fourth game in a row to start the season 4-0. In the 58-56 victory over Hopkins County Central, Deshale Lablanc led the way with 21 points. Devonya Bryant added 14 and Loreal Chaney 13 points.
Next up for the Lady Panthers is a trip to Caldwell County on Tuesday December 15 then the home opener versus Barren County on Friday night December 18.
The win in Elkton for Coach Phil Todd’s Panthers was the second of the year in as many tries.
Pedro Bradshaw led the scorers with 17 points.
The Panthers home opener is their next game on Tuesday night, December 15, at Jim Young Gym.
