At the end of October Logan County Middle School football sent nine players to Lexington for try outs for the East vs West Kentucky middle school all-star game.
Seven of the nine athletes made the team. From the eighth grade Tyler Ezell, Gary Hardy, and Devon Barnes were selected. From the seventh grade Braxton Baptiste, Kaleb Ferguson, Thomas Kash, and Zack Yates were named all-stars.
These Cougars will be on hand to play over the Thanksgiving weekend at Kentucky State University. Games will be played on Sunday November 29th; the seventh grade game will kick off at Noon, followed by the eighth grade all=star game at 2pm.
This is a great opportunity for these kids to show their talents against some of the best players from around the state of Kentucky.
Head Coach Todd Adler will lead the eighth grade West team’s coaching staff. “I’ll be assisted by Derek Jackson, Josh Osborne, Mike Savage—from TK Stone—and a couple of other coaches from our area,” said Adler. “I am honored to be able to coach (this team) more time this season,” he added.
Coach Adler speaks highly of the kids he has coached this year. “I’m so proud of the hard work and dedication these young men have showed all season long,” he says, “and know it will pay off for them to be honored as an all-star.”
Anthony “Rooster” Woodard from Russellville also made the all-star team, representing his Russellville team. He will be playing for the seventh grade West team along with the Logan County players. “It’s really nice as a coach to see the kids from our community have success. This is a great accomplishment in their young athletic careers,” said Coach Adler.
