The Russellville Panthers visit the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats this Friday night, October 30.
The 8-1 Panthers play the 5-4 Wildcats in this annual meeting. The Wildcats have won three out of the five last games in this series, including a 21-20 slim victory at Rhea Stadium last year.
While the Wildcats have not, the Panthers have secured a berth in the 2015 Gridiron Bowl Playoffs with a return to Rhea Stadium next week to face Fort Knox.
The Wildcats have been an entertaining 5-4, winning their 2015 opener in Portland, then losing the next game against Caldwell County. Keeping that W-L-W pattern all season, the Wildcats would be due to lose after last week’s win over Warren East.
On the way to their 8-1 record, the Panthers have dominated all their fallen opponents; the Panthers one lose to Murray to close out the September schedule, was hard-fought at Rhea and a much closer game that the 7-31 final score would indicate.
Look for the Wildcats to play hard and seek their sixth win of the season.
But don’t expect the Panthers to roll over. Head Coach John Myers will have his team ready to play to win. Barring any injury or illness that would cause Coach Myers to use caution and save his player’s energy for the playoffs next week, expect a showcase of talent that many in Panther Nation was not able to see because of the recent long road trips of the team.
As this road game is so nearby hometown Russellville, look for a hardy contingent of Panther fans at the Franklin-Simpson field.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm Friday night
