GymKatz show well in state meet

The GymKatz competitive gymnastics team of Logan County Gymnastics finished their competitive season with the AAU District state meet held in Richmond on April 18 at TK’s Gymnastics.

Ariana Nickell as a level 3 brought home the gold medal for her vault as well as two bronze medals for bars and floor. Maddix Mowles, competing as a first year level 5 scored very well, including a 8.2 on the beam. Nikita Shutts competed as a level 4 and placed in the top five in two of her events. Hannah Price brought home all silvers and finished with a silver in the all-around. Sarah Brown captured two gold medals in the vault and beam and silvers in the bars, floor and all-around. A’miyah Collier as a first-year level 7 dominated her age division by placing first in all four events and in the all-around while competing as a level 6.

These girls work out approximately eight hours per week, working on their skills in the four women’s Olympic events: floor exercise, balance beam, uneven parallel bars and vaulting.

They are coached by Lisa Bunce.
