Logan County High School cross country is back on the field preparing for the upcoming season. Last year the boys won the regional championship and finished fifth overall at the state championship meet.
Senior Sye Head lead the boys team last year and finished fifth in state and with a time of 16:07.
“Were a lot stronger this year,” said Head. “We’ve got some new talented runners that will fill every spot we ever needed.”
Seniors Noah Thomas and Colton Spencer were also top runners last year.
“Were the oldest now so we have more responsibility,” said Thomas. “Were going to end this year with a bang.”
“Were all looking forward to winning another regional championship and getting on podium at state,” said Spencer. “There’s no more if you mess up now you can do it next year. Were at the end of the rope. This is what were going to remember for the rest of our lives.”
Head coach, Greg Howard, has been a coach at Logan County for 18 years and has been working on building the program up to where it is now.
“We want to repeat last year,” said Howard. “It’s not good enough to get to this level, we’ve got to stay here.”
Howard says the team has good experience now and knows what it’s like the run big races and win.
“We know what it takes, now we just have to do it,” said Howard. “It’s hard what we do, but we find a way to get it done.”
