Football teams head into playoff games on Friday
by Crystin Faenza
Sports Reporter

This Friday both the Russellville Panthers and the Logan County Cougars will go into their playoff games. The Russellville Panthers will go into the game with an overall season record of 7-3 and the Cougars will go in with an overall season record of 2-8.

The Logan County Cougars will travel to Graves County to face the Eagles which have an overall record of 8-2 for the season.

“If we go into the game with a good attitude and play hard and don’t make those small mistakes we could come out with a win. We’re going to have to play physical and slow their offense down,” said Logan County head coach Dain Gregory. “We’ve been good on offense in spurts and I don’t think we’ve played to our potential this season. We’ve got to find open grass and protect Justin Rone to give him confidence to throw the ball.”

Gregory says he is fired up for the game and excited that the Cougars made it to the playoffs. They haven’t been to the playoffs since 2009 and he says this is a good thing for the growth of the football program.

“We have to give it all we’ve got every snap and take advantage of our opportunities and do the little things right and I believe we can win,” said Gregory.

The Russellville Panthers will play their game at home against the Bethlehem Eagles who have an overall record of 5-5 for the season.

“We have to work on getting more physical. Our defensive line is older, smarter and stronger and has a great year. Bethlehem hasn’t played a schedule like we have but their offense has put up some points but I don’t think they’ve faced a defense like ours,” said Russellville head coach John Myers. “We’ve just got to keep it up on defense and make it hard for them to move the ball.”
