Logan County football comes to an end

The Logan County Cougar football season came to an end on Friday after their loss against the Graves County Eagles in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

The Cougars lost 29-76 against the Eagles, which ended their season with a 2-9 record.

The Graves County Eagles went out of the field prepared to fight but didn’t prevent the Cougars from scoring four touchdowns before the end of the game.

With 26 seconds in the first half, Justin Rone threw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Gage Hales to put the Cougars on the scoreboard 7-21. The next touchdown for the Cougars wouldn’t come until two minutes left in the third quarter with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Rone to Hales to bring the Cougars to 14-55.

The Cougars slipped through the Eagles defense and score twice more in the fourth quarter. With 9:31 left in the fourth quarter Aaron Baldwin ran a one yard touchdown to put the Cougars 21-62. Shortly after, Gage Hales would make an 85 yard touchdown run after the kickoff return. Taylor Blakemore would then complete a pass from Rone to gain the extra two points and put the Cougars 29-69. The Eagles would press on and win the game 76-29.

Hales would end the game with 8 carries for 44 yards rushing, 94 yard receiving and two touchdowns. Brennan Rostampour ended with 10 carries for 42 yards rushing. Rone ended the game with 10 carries for 39 yards rushing, 136 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Aaron Baldwin had four carries for 28 yards rushing and four yards receiving and one touchdown. Taylor Blakemore had three carries for 18 yards rushing.
