The Logan County Cougars and the Russellville Panthers went head to head in the “Clash of the Cats” on Tuesday night. The Cougars wore pink jerseys to support cancer awareness but the night was also a special night for Logan County head coach Ethan Meguiar.

Meguiar was recognized for gaining his 300th win of his career last weekend. Meguiar would add another one on this night.

The game started off slow for the two teams as the game stayed tied up 0-0 until the fourth inning of the game. Dustin Cartas was the lead off batter for the Cougars in the bottom of the fourth, and hit a home run for the Cougars to gain a 1-0 lead over the Panthers.

The Panthers were not able to score any in the fifth, but Cougars Gage Hales and Cody Hunt would add two more runs on the board for the Cougars, gaining their lead to 3-0.

The game went on quickly, with the Panthers unable to gain any runs, resulting in the Cougars 3-0 win over the Panthers.

Caleb Bruner pitched for the Cougars. Bruner finished the game with 11 strikeouts and allowed only two hits.

Jacob Proctor pitched the majority of the game for the Panthers and finished with seven strikeouts and allowed four hits. Crewsdon Kemp pitched the last inning of the game with two strikeouts and no hits.

“Caleb did great tonight, we really relied on him in the game. We hit the ball good and got some base runner. We won 3-0 to Russellville and its a district win so I can’t complain,” said Logan County head coach Ethan Meguiar. “Its been 17 years at a great school. I’ve had a lot of good players and great family support from my wife and parents. I appreciate what they did for me tonight.”

The Cougars will face the Grave County Eagles tonight at home at 5:30. The Panthers will travel to Muhlenberg to face the Mustangs.
