Suspect pulls from deputy in attempts to hide drugs

Another traffic stop by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department proves to be successful as deputies locate crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday, Feb. 17, deputy Kyle Harvey of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, pulled over 56-year-old Deloris H. Stacker of Russellville for a traffic violation. Stacker was driving a red 2000 Grand Prix and was stopped on Ky 100 in Russellville.

During the stop, deputy Harvey detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside Stacker’s vehicle. The deputy also noticed Stacker attempting to hide something inside her vehicle. When deputy Harvey asked Stacker to step out of her vehicle, she handed him a wrapper containing items of drug paraphernalia.

While the deputy was searching Stacker, she refused to remove her hand from her upper pocket and pulled away from the deputy. When Harvey forced her hand out from her pocket, Stacker dropped several suspected “crack” cocaine rocks on the ground in an attempt to conceal them.

K-9 deputy Robert Toombs responded to the scene with drug dog Jinx, who conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle. A positive alert was indicated. Deputies then conducted a interior search of the vehicle and located a brown paper bag containing items of drug paraphernalia, as well as a small amount of marijuana residue inside Stacker’s purse.

Stacker was charged with rear license not illuminated, obstructed vision/or windshield, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest. She was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Russellville Police Department.
