Obituary for Curtis Watkins

Curtis L. Watkins, 71, of the Highland Lick Road, Russellville, died at his home Monday, May 7, 2012.

He was born January 13, 1941 to the late Lawrence and Jimmie Richardson Watkins in Logan County.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of the Post Oak Baptist Church, where he was an usher and trustee. He was in his 4th term of serving as 3rd district Logan County Magistrate and had retired from Houchens Industries. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Logan County Health Board, served on the Boy Scouts of America Shawnee Trails Council, a former member of the Optimist Club, member of the Logan Co. Chamber of Commerce and he was a member of the American Legion Post 29 for 40 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Post Oak Baptist Church with Bro. Nick Stamps, Bro. John Franklin and Judge Logan Chick officiating with burial to follow in the Maple Grove cemetery. Visitation at Post Oak Baptist Church will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday until the time of the funeral service. Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Logan Chick, Harris Dockins, Wallace Whittaker, David Winston Johnson, Mike Harris and Ronnie Massingille.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Miles Watkins; sons, Larry Watkins of Franklin and Rob Watkins of Russellville; daughter, Amy Ranero of Bahrain; sisters, Elizabeth Watkins, Geraldine Hughes, Betty Richmond, Connie Cowherd and Martha Watkins all of Russellville; brothers, Charlie Watkins and Roy Watkins, both of Russellville,Harold Watkins of Chandlers, Robert Watkins of Denver, Colo., and Danny Watkins of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family requests expressions of sympathy are made in form of donations to their favorite charity.
