The Russellville Panthers football team had a disappointing loss against the South Warren Spartans on Friday night.
The Panthers ended the night without scoring and losing 20-0 which evens their season record 2-2.
The Panthers managed three first downs and only 72 total yards of offense. The Spartans ended the first half with two touchdowns and a 35 yard field goal with .8 seconds left in the second quarter. Which would put the Spartans in the lead at the half with 17-0.
The Panthers defense managed to keep the Spartans from scoring another touchdown in the second half but the Spartans kicked a 27 yard field goal in the fourth quarter to bring the final score of 20-0.
Demarcus Hampon lead the Panthers in rushing yards with a total of 19 yards. Barrett Croslin ended the game with 48 passing yards.
“We were prepared to play the game on Friday night and overall we didn’t play well. We truly got handed it to us,” said head coach John Myers. “We are too good of a team to play they way we did. We could never get a good start and we missed some opportunities. We are just going to put it behind us and get ready to play next week.
The Panthers will face Todd County Central next Friday at an away game.
