McDonald’s gets a major remodeling
by Chris Cooper
Managing Editor

As most people who live in Logan County already have noticed, McDonald’s in Russellville is undergoing some changes. The technical name for it is “MRP,” which means a major remodeling project.

Many McDonald’s restaurants have already gone through the changes Russellville is just now seeing. It’s all part of an update, says supervisor Emily Ellis, who is in charge of the McDonald’s in Russellville and the two restaurants in Springfield (one in a Wal-Mart).

Ellis is the daughter of Victor and Linda Donisi, owners of five McDonald’s, including Russellville. They have owned the Russellville restaurant since it opened in 1985.

If you looked at the Russellville McDonald’s now, you couldn’t imagine what was in store for one of the most popular places to eat in town, but Ellis says it’s going to be wonderful.

The MRP began in mid-September and the completion is expected the end of October. After the project is finished, there will be two drive-through lanes, a more spacious layout inside with a float screen television, digital menu boards and a cut through where the outdoor play area once was.

Ellis says the cut through was needed. This will allow customers to travel around the restaurant without having to wait in line out in the street, as it sometimes happens now due to traffic flow. This will be much easier and faster for the customer, which is what McDonald’s is all about.

The two drive-through lanes will also make it quicker for the customer. Ellis said there are families that come in and order large meals, where some customers just want to come in for a sweet tea. The two lanes will now make that easier and faster.

Although there has been extensive construction going on, McDonald’s hasn’t skipped a beat in serving their customers. Ellis said it was their goal not to interfere with the customer experience during this transition. They wanted to get people in and out and give them the experience they deserve.

Ellis hopes people will come in and see the changes while they are going on and then come in for the grand opening in December.
