The Russellville Lady Panther volleyball team faced its cross-town rivals, the Logan County Lady Cougars, on Thursday night for the second time this season.
The Lady Cougars took the win 2-0 (25-22, 25-7).
In the first game, the Lady Panthers were down 10-4 but turned it up to coming within points of the Lady Cougars. They continued fighting and tied the game 19-19. Both teams played an intense game and the Lady Panthers game up short of the win 25-22.
In the second game, the Lady Cougars started focusing and maintained a strong lead throughout the game making very few mistakes. They easily won the second match 25-7.
“The girls played good the second game but didn’t focus in the first game,” said Logan County head coach Steve Lyne. “They’ve got to make sure they don’t lose their focus in these district games and stay prepared for the games ahead.”
“The girls played great in the first game. The game had great intensity and they were out there doing their thing and looking good,” said Russellville head coach Terricka Quarles. “We had some errors in the second game and it took us a while to bounce back mentally but they played good. We didn’t really well on our serving tonight we just need to work on being consistent and having a lot of touches.
The Lady Panthers will face Todd County Central on Thursday at home and the Lady Cougars will face South Warren at a home game on October 2.
